On Saturday, October 1st, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., spend a day in the woods with us observing mosses in their natural habitats. Join the staff of Moss Acres and special guest "Moss Guru" Rick Smith for an informative, fun, and visually soothing experience in the mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania.
Learn about the life cycle of moss, and what sets it apart from vascular plants. We also talk a lot about how to best encourage moss and maintain it on your property. Identification of mosses, and a firsthand review of our moss roof and our new moss wall system on site will also be covered. Your experience ends with a short hike through a hemlock forest to the adjacent waterfalls surrounded by moss covered ledge.
Gourmet "farm pizza" - wood fired in our earthen oven, and a fresh garden salad form our farm are also included. If you like to bike or trout fish, bring your gear - the Dyberry trout stream and 8,000 acres of state game lands are adjacent to our property.
